Hello Margate residents,


My name is Juli Vandermeulen, and I am running for Margate City Commission Seat 1. I am committed to fostering a transparent and accountable local government that truly serves its residents. Here’s how I plan to ensure transparency and accountability if elected:


Commitment to Open Government Initiatives

Transparency is the cornerstone of a healthy democracy. I pledge to implement open government initiatives that make it easier for residents to access information about city operations, decisions, and expenditures. This includes maintaining an up-to-date and user-friendly city website where all public records, meeting minutes, and financial reports are readily available.


Town Hall Meetings

Regular town hall meetings are essential for maintaining open lines of communication between the city government and its residents. I will host monthly town hall meetings to discuss ongoing projects, address concerns, and gather feedback. These meetings will be a platform for residents to voice their opinions and stay informed about what’s happening in our city.

I want to take a moment to commend Mayor Tommy Ruzzano for his excellent town hall meetings. His dedication to engaging with residents and addressing their concerns has set a high standard for transparency and accountability. We appreciate all that he does for our community.


Keeping Residents Informed

Keeping residents informed is not just about sharing information; it’s about ensuring information is accessible and understandable. I will ensure that all communications from the city are clear, concise, and available in multiple formats to reach as many residents as possible. This includes regular newsletters, social media updates, and community forums.

Ethical governance builds trust. I am dedicated to upholding the highest standards of integrity and accountability. This means being honest, transparent, and responsive to the needs of our community. I will work tirelessly to ensure that all decisions are made in the best interest of Margate residents.
